Family News

My mom announced to the family tonight that she is retiring. She'll be seventy in October so in one way, it's not really a surprise. I've been wondering for a couple of years when she would actually make the decision. But now that it's definite, it's odd because now I am confronting that she is really old enough to retire. She certainly doesn't look or act almost seventy. It will take a couple of days to get used to the idea of all this.

I am very happy for her and my dad. They have big plans to start volunteering together as adult literacy tutors. And they are going on a cruise.

You'll need Windows Media Player for KLG. I ripped it as that, not an mp3. Oopsie.

And to complete the "cruise" theme, my Hilary-with-(Titanic)-necklace icon.

My work here is done. :-)

KLG should do a video with David Hasselhoff! They could have Bichons and dachshunds in it.

That new Poseidon Adventure looks scary but it cannot compare to the original.

The original is one of my all-time faves.

Oh, and I hear KLG is a real bichon. :P~

Wow - your mom waited quite a long time to retire! She must have loved her job. My dad retired at 55. He *didn't* love his job.

She did like her job. But she was also practical about the longevity of women in our family and was stashing away lots of $ in her retirement funds.

Oh, smart lady then. That's where you get your cleverness from, I reckon! ;0

My dad was fortunate to have a very good union pension to retire on. And I seriously think he would never have made it to 65 - never mind 70 - still at work.

Thanks for the compliment!

What was your dad's profession?

He built planes - a lot of them are still flying!
