Damage From Cindy

The image I had in my head after Juannie told me about the fallen tree did not match what I saw when I got home this afternoon. That's a lot of tree in my backyard.

The first picture shows the corner of the yard in early April. In the second picture, that corner of the yard is completely under the pecan tree. You can see the size of the yard in first picture and it gives you a pretty good idea of how much of the yard is now covered by all the debris. I can't even get close to my little garden in the corner along the right side of the first picture now because of the branches.

Indeed, thatsa lotta tree. Hopefully the neighbours will see to it's removal *promptly*?

I love how the dogs have to get into the pictures - what hams!

Camera = treat at my house so they both normally come running when they see the camera. But Rocky was too hot and stayed in the a/c so Bessie was the star.

Is that your little dog? He must have freaked during the storm.

I'm more of a cat person myself. "Dogs have masters. Cats have staff."

Re: pictures
They were both pretty nervous but they handled it well once my husband brought them into bed with us. Then it was playtime!

We had a lightning storm to end all lightning storms a couple of weeks ago. The weirdest thing I'd ever seem. The lightning rolled across the sky in waves. The thunder was so loud I was sure every tree in my back yard was hit, but none were. It went on for hours. I went back to sleep (I had to work the next day) and it would wake me up with such intent light that it lit my bedroom through the blinds and double curtains. There were small tornadoes a few kilometers away, so I guess we were lucky. The power was out for quite a while and it is always unnerving how quiet the world becomes one the storm stops when there is no electricity. I can't imagine what it must be like to be in a hurricance or something where you are actually afraid for your safety.

Re: pictures
Ah, Rocky or Bessie?

Are they litter mates or for breeding or just friends?

Re: pictures
Bessie is the smaller red one and Rocky is the fluffy boy. We've had Bess since she was 6 weeks and we rescued Rocky when he was a year old. They are both fixed so no puppies are planned - unless we succumb to puppy love some day and bring a little one home.

I'm glad you're okay even if your tree isn't.
