John finally managed to grab Rocky. I almost had Bess and then another duck appeared so she takes off after that one. She and the duck were on a bridge with me standing in the middle of it stopping traffic before a car hit me, my fool dog or the petrified duck. Traffic started to back up and a young guy jumped out of his truck and got between Bess and the duck so I could pick her up. As I carried Bess back to our yard, I noticed the duck following us. Bess started struggling to get to the duck again. I don't know if the duck was confused or wanted more "playtime" with Bess but it walked behind us for a couple of minutes before flying off.
By the time, we got into our backyard I was ready to kill both dogs. I had been so scared during all the running around and car dodging but my fear turned to anger once the danger was over. I know it was wrong to be angry with them because they were just doing what herding dogs do. But they were not listening at all to Juannie or me and could have both been hit by cars because of it. I am so thankful that I did not wind up at the emergency vet on my birthday.
Juannie and I talked about more obedience training for them once we all calmed down and resumed our pleasant evening. So I will be looking into that for both of the little scamps in the near future. And we are getting the screen door spring repaired.
I am very tired today because I didn't sleep very well. I kept dreaming about chasing Bess and Rocky and woke up several times unnerved by everything that happened all over again.
