Suggestive Request

I received $100 in bookstore gift cards for my birthday. (Yummy!) I have been working on my wish list for the big shopping trip. I have lots of books in my want-to-read notes but would like some fresh ideas.

So dear LJ friends, please suggest one fiction and one non-fiction book to me. I can't promise that I will buy all the recommendations (I can only make the $ go so far) but each and every one will be put on my master list.

Woot - what a delightful giftee!

I don't read a lot of contemporary fiction, but I have read Melissa Bank's "The Girl's Guide to Hunting and Fishing" and I found it well done.

For non-fiction, I'd have to recommend "The Great Mortality: An Intimate History of the Black Death, The Most Devastating Plague of All Time." This is history make completely reviting - not dry and stale at ALL!

Try to remember, Lisa. Take the time to edit. *smacks head*
Arg. Should read: "This is history made completely riveting."

You are up late tonight I think!

I read your first suggestion and really liked it a lot. I've recommended it quite a bit myself. And I have an unhealthy interest (pun intended) in all things plague. I particularly love Poe's "Masque of the Red Death" even though it's not about bubonic plague.
