It's pretty depressing that belongings it took years to accumulate are demolished and disposed of in moments by a bulldozer and a backhoe.

The anti-war folks have been using it and I think it says it all.

Thanks! I haven't been home to witness the pickup of all the piles before. Hearing about it and seeing it are worlds apart.

I have a photo of them picking up trees, I could have gotten so much more but the batteries in my camera died. I need to go buy some more so I can put it on the computer.

I'm sure it's more devastating than I can imagine.

From a distance what I've gained from all the stories I've heard is that it's time to reassess how much work and resources should be put into the accumulation of posessions. no matter where you live they can disappear. I've grown up in a culture that doesn't distinguish between essentials and luxuries, many of us treat them equally and that's a really foolish way to live.

My sister-in-law and I were talking about our wastefulness before the storm recently. And how now we are so cautious about resources and our remaining possessions because they truly are precious.
