Purple Is The New Red

This is especially for bibliovixen because she has a passion for ink and mustbered because she has a passion for a certain color...

I just worry about the future psyche of our nation if it's true that a page full of red ink is frightening to students.

"A mix of red and blue, the color purple embodies red's sense of authority but also blue's association with serenity, making it a less negative and more constructive color for correcting student papers, color psychologists said. Purple calls attention to itself without being too aggressive. And because the color is linked to creativity and royalty, it is also more encouraging to students."

I am all for sensitivity and academic encouragement but am I the only one who finds this wimpy?

Kind of funny when your name is Red.
"purple, a color they perceive as 'friendlier' than red."

“Red is a bit over-the-top in its aggression."

“Red is honest, direct, and to the point. I'm sending the message, 'I care about you enough to care how you present yourself to the outside world.' "

it's funny that these people (and you know it's the same people) are cool with using a caustic substance on a child's tongue but aren't cool with upsetting their delicate sense of self-esteem by letting them see errors marked in red.
