Sunshine On My Shoulders

I just saw Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for the first time and loved it. I know. I am late to the party.

Kate Winslet was superb. I realized that this week I have watched all or part of the following movies: Sense and Sensibility, Finding Neverland, Heavenly Creatures and Titanic.

I thought Jim Carrey was very good. None of his usual shtick.

I am sure I will dream about this movie tonight. It was that intriguing.

That is my absolute #1 favorite movie. It's one of the few movies that made me cry :)

I know--that one scene where she was telling him about her Ugly Doll--"be pretty!"--that just killed me.

I loved all the demonstrations of the impact of childhood memory and feelings on adult behavior. Very spot on.

The part that always gets me is near the end where they're showing how they first met, and he's in the car afterwards and his friends ask him, "So who was that pretty girl you were talking to?" and he replies, "Oh... it was just a girl..."

And his first memory of her orange sweatshirt and how he came to love and then hate it really got me, too.

By the time we see the real beginning of the relationship, it makes all the bad feelings at the end of it that much sadder. There's just so much going on in that movie. I can't wait to see it again.

It's a new classic. And it has scenes in a bookstore so it gets lots of extra points!

"It is not time or opportunity that is to determine intimacy; it is disposition alone. Seven years would be insufficient to make some people acquainted with each other, and seven days are more than enough for others." Marianne Dashwood
