dance, happy

Yay for Juannie!

Juannie found out over the weekend that he got the job! I am so proud of him. The only downside is that I probably won't see very much of him the next 2-3 months because he will have to travel for part of his training and then he'll be busy with the opening of the new location here in New Orleans. I'll have to devote myself to more reading, I guess. :->

We watched the new Project Greenlight the night after Juannie's interview. The guy that won the director's competition was nonsensical during his interview because of nervousness. As part of his presentation to direct a horror movie, he brought a painting done by a friend to show his visual concept for the production. Ben Affleck's hysterical description of the painting was "the two torsos of blood red Gollum-looking women". The interview panel was visibly shaken by the creepy painting and flummoxed by the poor guy's antics during the interview. But in spite of all this, they still picked him as their director based on the strength of his film for the contest. (This is the real premise of the show as far as I am concerned. Pick the guy - or guys last season - least likely to direct a good movie to keep things interesting for the viewers. Who cares if the movie made is profitable!)

After watching the show, Juannie was bemoaning how he did during his own interview. I asked him with a straight face, "Did you bring any props into the interview?" He looked at me like I was a loon. I continued, "Like a freaky painting of the two torsos of blood red Gollum-looking women?" Juannie just laughed and shook his head. I told him that I thought he had the job. And I was right!

Thanks to everyone for their good vibes about the interview.
