Christmas Day

Christmas Day has been a lovely, peaceful one. We spent the morning drinking bloody Marys and opening gifts. I tried to take some fun pics of the pups with their new toys but Rocky has developed a phobia of the digicam. So to get him to come out of his den and play, I had to put the camera away. We joined my parents and in-laws for Christmas lunch at my brother's house and all of us laughed at the twins' antics. Then we came home to relax a little before heading out to see Marva Wright's Christmas Party at Tipitina's.

The summer that Juannie and I met, we spent all the spare money we had going to see Marva play at clubs all over New Orleans with a group of friends. So we are very excited to see Marva on Christmas night with one of our old buddies!

I hope everyone is having a joyous day!

iPod Idolatry

I will admit that I was leery of all the iPod hype. I am not one do something because it's popular. I steer clear of the fads. Juannie had to work very hard to convince me that I would like having one. I am not a neo-Luddite. I like technology. I just wasn't sure I wanted to hop on this bandwagon.

I want everyone to know that I was a fool. In a matter of hours, I have been converted. I am now an iPod devotee. It is truly the most genius device ever invented by man. I bow down before any object that will rid my car forever of all the CDs and cases. I am overjoyed by the ease of buying new songs for just 99 cents. ("Under Pressure" by Queen & David Bowie was just the start.) And I revel in the fact that I no longer have to buy a whole CD for the one song on it that I really love.

But I will not be putting one of those Apple stickers on my car. I draw the line there.
