Glum Bunch

Juannie's away for one night in Dallas for a hurricane preparedness meeting. So I am home alone with two sad pups who are missing him.

We went for a ride and they had lots of treats but they are still very downcast. They keep lounging by the front door. Bess whines piteously every now and then while Rocky just stares at the door dejectedly.

I think I'll be going to bed early and curling up with a good book to keep me company. I just started I Am Madame X by Gioia Diliberto. It reminds me so far of Memoirs of A Geisha because the main character, Virginie Gautreau, is introduced many years after the height of her fame, really infamy, as the model for John Singer Sargent's scandalous painting of her. I just started getting into the details of her childhood on a Louisiana plantation. So far I am very intrigued.

Mad Hot & Happenin'

That's Mad Hot Ballroom!

Watch an amazing and cute group of 11-year olds learn to merengue, rumba, tango, foxtrot and swing dance in New York City program that teaches them ballroom dancing. The dancing is fabulous and I forgot at times that I was watching children doing these moves because they really sizzle during the competitions. They are also charming, funny, goofy and wise during their interviews when they talk about the opposite sex, the changes they are experiencing as they go from being kids to adolescents and their hopes and dreams. What a great movie!
