On The Family Front

I found out earlier this week that my cousin, Jim, has bladder cancer. Based on what I've heard from his younger sister, Sharon, it's not an easily treatable cancer and the prospects for survival are not considered good. She's read 2-3 years. His general practitioner told him 2. I don't understand giving the shorter time frame to a patient. But he did wait almost a year to get to a doctor after the first appearance of blood in his urine.

He's forty-eight. He's taken a bitter turn in the last few years. I hope that he can find some peace so that whatever time he has left will be positive for him.

In Other Family News

My brothers and I are planning my mom's seventieth birthday picnic. Her birthday and the picnic are on October 14th which is the time in fall when the weather here is truly lovely. We've reserved a pavillion at Fairview Riverside State Park across Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans. The guys can fish, the kids can run around and we can all have a fun day together.

Mom and I are planning a baby shower for my sister-in-law. The shower will be on November 11th. The baby is due on December 14th. We just have to wait now for them to find out whether they are having a girl or a boy. They were going to hold off from finding out but have since changed their minds. They will get the news early next month during her next scheduled sonogram. We anxiously await this very important info so we can plan for blue or pink shower decor.

Wrinkle Release Is A Must

In the picture below, you see two products that we keep in our laundry room cabinet: Febreeze Fabric Refresher and Solo Fabric Refresher with Wrinkle Release. I usually use Downy Wrinkle Release which comes in a distinctive white bottle but I ran out. I knew we had the Solo stuff in the cabinet.

I went in search of Solo because I needed to unfurl the hem of a blouse I am wearing to a party tonight at Roger and Rico's house. I grabbed the Febreeze in error. This occurred because the bottles are both the exact same shade of blue, almost the same height and have brightly colored nozzles. I then sprayed Febreeze all over the hem of the blouse trying to get it to unwind itself. The blouse now smells extra Febreezey but it is still not showing proper hem attitude.

I have pumped up the smell on my blouse by spraying Solo once the Febreeze dried. I may knock out the other folks at the party with my dueling fabric refresher scentedness but I will have reduced allergens which I think will be a plus for them.
