Nii Tettey Tetteh & The Kusun Ensemble of Ghana played twice on Friday. They were very energetic and athletic with drummers setting the beat for the dancers who were all over the stage. They performed at the Jazz & Heritage Stage and then with less than two hours between sets moved over to the Congo Square Stage where we saw them. Awesome!
And the musical highlight of the day for me was seeing Angélique Kidjo. She is one of my favorite singers. Her voice is incredible. She is tiny but she just has the booming, throaty sound when she sings that sends chills through me. And her songs just get your body moving. I love her.
I saw her walking through the crowd earlier in the day and got so excited that I was shaking. I didn't approach her, though, because she looked like she was having a fine time blending in with everyone enjoying Jazz Fest. I didn't want to interrupt that for her. Plus, I would have made a fool of myself by trembling and stammering so it was definitely the best thing for all who would have been involved. :-)

These photos were taken by dear Roger since I was too short to see through the crowd.
