Monday was a great night for the city of New Orleans. The fact that the Superdome was game ready less than 13 months after the extensive damage it suffered during Katrina is an
incredible accomplishment. And what happened in the Dome on Monday night was a dream come true for Saints fans. I was proud of my city and proud of my team. The Dome looked fantastic and the Saints played like a team on a mission. The whole town continues to be in a great mood because of how everything went.
Some pre-game pictures below. I didn't take any during the game because I knew it would be way too rowdy for camera safety when the crowd went wild as the first small group of Saints players walked on the field just to warm up. Fans started howling, clapping, jumping up and down, twirling their towels, waving their signs and the popcorn started flying.
I knocked a beer out of the hand of the guy behind me with my towel dubbed "The Terrible Towel" after a catch by my Saints boyfriend, Marques Colston. Not long after that my brother, Dave, accidentally smacked me on the boob during a frenzy of hand slapping over another good play. Things were very crazy all night. I was very hoarse yesterday from all the yelling and screaming I did.
The Saints and the fans were on fire Monday night. It was the best football game ever.
Oh! U2 and Green Day were pretty good, too.
