Bad Eighties

To continue with tonight's theme...

These songs get my vote for worst songs of the Eighties: Mr. Roboto-Styx, Wake Me Up Before You GoGo-Wham, We Built This City-Starship (They could be some of the worst songs ever.)

(They could be some of the worst songs ever.)

We Built This City-Starship - that one's certainly right up there. I also have a particular aversion to: Don't You Want Me Baby-The Human League.

It was such a lame song. The 60s Jefferson Airplane version of the group would have died a thousand deaths if they could have known about the craptastic output of the future.

Mais non, mais non! We'll have to agree to disagree. I think Mr. Roboto is a work of GENIUS. It's on par with Devo's Whip It. And I found Wham to have bright, happy tunes that I was just in the mood for, sometimes.

Besides, I needed music to exercise to with my leg warmers ;p

I also REALLY like Thomas Dolby, Falco and Ultravox's Dancing With Tears in My Eyes. I even liked Human League. Not to mention Peter Cetera's Glory of Love.

Oh, wait a minute, I just did mention it.

I was a bit of a Blondie fan as well.

I disliked anything by Sheena Easton and also Total Eclipse of the Heart. And, for me, anything Heavy Metal.

Most of the members of Styx were unhappy about the Mr. Roboto phase of their career according to "Behind The Music". They wanted to go in a more rock direction but that curly-headed guy wanted to be theatrical.

Liked other Wham! songs. Love Devo, Thomas Dolby, Ultravox and Human League and Blondie. Falco was okay.

Sheena Easton was insipid and Total Eclipse was annoying.

Oh man, not Mr. Roboto! Annoying as it is, it's one of the first songs I can ever remember liking. We had the record and I would put it on over and over again and dance around the living room to it.

This is the great thing about music, everyone likes different stuff. Lucky for the artists because it keeps them in business!

I would have to disagree as well. I listen to those on a regular basis, along with a several other artless 80's tunes. They're just too fun.

I would definitely listen to any 80's song over the boy band dreck over the late 90's.

I can agree with you on that.
