What time was your feast?
Was it casual or formal?
Did you have guests?
We were guests at my parents' house.
Did anyone bring burnt toast and jelly beans and popcorn?
No, but we had a fiesta of nuts courtesy of Poppy. (Four huge bowls of different nut mixes were set out as the pre-meal snack to keep everyone from gnawing on each other.)
Did you cook, help cook, or watch football while others cooked?
I actually cooked while watching football! Sweet potato casserole was my dish and I heated up Juannie's baked macaroni and cheese.
For what did you give thanks? Did you do so out loud?
I gave thanks for Juannie, my family, dear friends and a nearly finished house but not out loud.
Do you have traditional dishes that your family serves each year?
Baked macaroni and cheese is a must.
What was your favorite part of your Thanksgiving meal?
Aforementioned baked macaroni and cheese.
What was your favorite dessert?
I had no dessert even though we had many choices. I ate too much of that baked macaroni and cheese.
Was there anything you like to have for Thanksgiving that you didn’t have this year and missed?
Juannie is cooking a mini-Thanksgiving for us tonight so we are having creamed pearl onions and peas, which I love, along with a small barbecued turkey, corn bread dressing and cranberry sauce.
Was there anything new and different that you liked enough to try again next year?
I loved the sweet potato biscuits prepared by one of my sisters-in-law.
Did you help do the dishes?
My mom washed and I dried.
What non-food-related things did you do yesterday?
Worked in the yard in the morning to prepare for the pansies I'll be planting this weekend.
Are you more likely to be in line for Black Friday sales at 6 a.m. or to take part in Buy Nothing Day?
I avoid malls on this day after working in retail for way too many Black Fridays.
Have you had a sandwich with the leftovers yet?
I will be having roasted turkey on a parmesan biscuit with mornay sauce and a glass of champagne for breakfast tomorrow.
