What am I missing here? I feel like there's something I am not seeing that could explain the election victory of George W. Bush. Is there something I am overlooking in him as a person, as a leader? Or is there something I am unaware of in the psyche of the citizens of this country?

All I do know for sure is that I am disappointed and demoralized.

John Kerry and John Edwards fought hard but it wasn't enough. I have nothing but respect for them and their families.

The only silver lining here is that W and his administration will have to clean up their own mess in Iraq. I hope for the sake of our beleaguered troops that all of them are up to this task.

As I watched the extended coverage on Today this morning I came up with what seems like a viable theory: people may view this election as a referendum on Iraq; though Kerry ran on a promise of wrapping up things in Iraq, voters may feel that it's Bush's mess to maintain. In other words, the voters have in essence said, "All right. We'll give you another shot; you got us into this, now you can get us out."

Just conjecture. No more reliable than the old VNS.

I don't get it either. It does feel like something is missing, and I have no idea what it could possibly be. Maybe the Republicans did a better job of scamming voters this year. Who knows.
