Mail Carrier Envy

Today is one of those rare days in New Orleans when I actually envy the mail carriers. It is a cool, breezy and lovely fall afternoon.

I do not envy them in mid-August when every crack and crevice pours sweat the moment you walk outside. Ah! The pleasures of life in a sub-tropical climate.

I don't envy the poor schmoes when it's -40 celsius! I remember one guy had his beard and mustache encrusted with ice - he looked like a disgruntled Santa Claus.

Well it would never get to -40 here - thank heavens! But 95 degrees with 90% humidity in August happens too often. It is not a pleasant place to spend your work day in the great outdoors.
