Concession Speech

Adam Felber's concession speech. While John Kerry's concession speech was truly gracious and heartfelt, I wonder if he wanted to make a speech like this one.

"There are some who would say that I sound bitter, that now is the time for healing, to bring the nation together. Let me tell you a little story. Last night, I watched the returns come in with some friends... As the night progressed, people began to talk half-seriously about secession, a red state / blue state split. The reasoning was this: We in blue states produce the vast majority of the wealth in this country and pay the most taxes, and you in the red states receive the majority of the money from those taxes while complaining about 'em. We in the blue states are the only ones who've been attacked by foreign terrorists, yet you in the red states are gung ho to fight a war in our name. We in the blue states produce the entertainment that you consume so greedily each day, while you in the red states show open disdain for us and our values. Blue state civilians are the actual victims and targets of the war on terror, while red state civilians are the ones standing behind us and yelling "Oh, yeah!? Bring it on!"

that statement just angers me!

i am so sick of hearing people say they want to move or talk and joke about going to canada or secession or moving from a red state to a blue state so that they will be with more like minded people.

i live in texas...a hard red state...dems lost alot in this election locally and we are still ready to fight another day. if you love this country enough to fight this hard with this much passion then why are people so willing to leave, joke about secession, or devising ways of dividing this country more?

we should be focusing this energy on the next congressional and local elections and fighting to gain a balance of power in this country ... not bringing it down

wow..sorry i didn't mean to rant so much in your journal :p

I live in LA so I got the red state blues. (No pun intended, heh!) I'm not ready to secede or move but this definitely vented some frustration I have these days.

I agree with the quote. I'm getting tired of the split, the moralizing, the hypocrisy, the telling the states giving the most sacrifices what they should and should not be doing. Hypocrisy, hypocrisy, hypocrisy. Wanna move to Illinois?

I love Chicago but haven't been there in 10+ years. I have a dear friend who lives there, too. Hmmm, Illinois. Not a bad idea - except I am a wimp about cold weather.
