Wow - that's a lotta dung. But then, they must have been surrounded by the stuff. I'm fascinated by how filthy they were in those days. Think of mud streets and no sewers. I mean, the rich had to walk about holding scented sachets to their nose and even they had lice and flea, etc. And all those fancy clothes - ha, you know they weren't sent to the wash very often - if at all.

Really, I should look for a book called: The History of Dirt.
