The state of Mississippi
is celebrating more than the birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr. today. Robert E. Lee's birthday is being celebrated today as well. And I am not the least bit surprised that Robert E. Lee is mentioned first in the proclamation.

I am so glad I don't live there anymore.

We celebrated Lee-Jackson-King (Robert E. Lee, Stonewall Jackson, MLK) Day here in Virginia from the 80s till around 2000. Now the confederate generals are "honored" on the Friday before MLK day.

I have no idea. But having gone to high school in Mississippi, I definitely know about the whole "celebrating Robert E. Lee's birthday on MLK day" thing.

And I'm also glad I don't live there anymore.

Please pardon my Canadian lack of knowledge... but who is Robert E. Lee?

He was a general for the Confederate Army during the Civil War. He surrendered to Grant at the end of the war and is a huge hero to some people in the South.
