New or Nut

Juannie and I were enjoying some yummy Nutella earlier tonight. We are now having a lively discussion as to its pronunciation. Is it new-tella or nuh-tella? He said that he heard Giada De Laurentiis (with the slightly oversized head) pronounce it new-tella. I always thought it was nuh-tella. Hmmm...

Mmmmmm...I lurve me some Nutella - hazelnut and chocolate - too bad the last time I looked it was hydrogenated!

I believe the pronunciation is "nuh-tella" but I wouldn't place money on it. We had an Italian tv station in Toronto and they always had commercials in Italian for this product and that is how they said it

The commercials were hilarious. A boy comes home from school and his mom gives him this enormous slice of white Italian bread and he gets busy spreading it from end to end with Nutella. And then he holds it up to the camera and says "buona...er...something". Egads! I really should be bilingual since that is my Dad's native language, but I'm not!

I would much prefer Nutella commercials in Italian to those Mentos commercials that transcend language barriers to produce a universal "Yuck"!
